HAKU SHAH

(1934-2019)

 

An eminent artist and recipient of the Padma Shri award , Haku Shah has significantly contributed towards  promoting tribal and folk art through his work.

Born in 1934, he earned his Graduate and Master’s degree of fine arts from M.S University, Baroda. He was the curator of Museum for Tribal Cultures at the Gujarat Vidhyapeth (University), and a consultant of the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad. He has exhibited at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai in 1963 and 1964, Gallery One New York in 1976, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi in 2007 .
